Light Up Your Child’s Playroom with These Fun LED Projects

A child’s playroom is supposed to inspire learning and creativity while they have fun. So how do you create an environment that emulates that? Well, you could try decorating a child’s room with lights. There are plenty of LED uses, and when you apply the creativity you’ve learned over the years, you may come up with some pretty creative LED projects. Here are some fun projects for kids you might want to try this summer.

LED Projects for Kids

Globe lamp

Have you heard the term “upcycling?” It refers to repurposing old junk into new, useful, and often pretty things. Take for example your run-of-the-mill globes. Did you know you can turn it into a lamp or small chandelier, perfect for a child’s playroom? All you have to do is cut the globe in half. Then, just hang it from the ceiling with an LED light in the middle, and you got yourself a lamp. You can also cut a hole in it, and put the light inside so the globe will glow. The thinner material used to make the globe, the brighter the glow!

Ping pong ball lights

You can do many things with a strand of LED lights. This LED project involves a strand of LED lights and ping pong balls. That’s it. All you’ve got to do is cut holes in the ping pong balls so they fit well enough over the lights. What this does is make the LED light bigger, safer, and more fun.

Peter Pan’s shadow trick

If your kids love Peter Pan and a little light at night while they go to bed or if you’re considering some home redecoration, you should try the Peter Pan shadow night light LED project. This DIY project is easy. All you need is a projector, Peter Pan silhouette (can be cut out with paper), LED lamp, grey paint, and brush (scratch paper and an LED spotlight can also work, just not as well).

First, cut out the Peter Pan and place it on the projector. Once the image is shining on the wall, trace around it and paint. Finally, turn on the LED light and it’ll look just like Peter Pan’s shadow is trying to get away from him.
